Signing out clears local account data on this device. Deleting the account also removes the app account itself. If important entries exist only on this phone, preserve them and check sync first.

Preserve important data first

  1. Connect to the internet.
  2. Open More → Account & sync.
  3. Tap Sync Now and wait for successful completion.
  4. If you use another device, sync it too and open several important notes and bookmarks to check their contents.

Make an independent copy of text you need to keep outside the app account. Sync does not guarantee continued access after account deletion.

Sign out

  1. Open the account menu on Account & sync.
  2. Choose Logout.
  3. Read the confirmation and proceed only when ready to clear this device’s data.

Signing out ends the session and clears local bookmarks, highlights, notes, labels, reading pins, history, daily verse collections, plans and their marks. Unsynced changes are lost.

Sign in again to exchange data. Logout and Delete Account are different commands; signing out does not delete the account itself.

Delete the app account

  1. Open More → Account & sync.
  2. Choose Delete Account in the account menu.
  3. Read the confirmation and check the selected account.
  4. Confirm only after preserving important data outside that account.

Deletion clears the local data listed above and removes the app account. Do not rely on recovering the account or its contents afterwards. This affects the app account, not your entire Google account.

If you only want to fix sync

Signing out or deleting the account can remove data not yet transferred. Try sync troubleshooting first. See the synced data list for scope.
