1 The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
Neno hili ndilo alilosema Bwana, katika habari za Babeli, na katika habari za Wakaldayo, kwa kinywa cha Yeremia, nabii.
2 Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
Tangazeni katika mataifa, Mkahubiri na kutweka bendera; Hubirini, msifiche, semeni, Babeli umetwaliwa! Beli amefedheheka; Merodaki amefadhaika; Sanamu zake zimeaibishwa, Vinyago vyake vimefadhaika.
3 For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
Maana toka kaskazini taifa linakuja juu yake, litakaloifanya nchi yake kuwa ukiwa; wala hapana mtu atakayekaa humo; wamekimbia, wamekwenda zao, mwanadamu na mnyama pia.
4 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.
Katika siku hizo, na wakati huo, asema Bwana, wana wa Israeli watakuja, wao na wana wa Yuda pamoja; Wataendelea njiani mwao wakilia, nao watamtafuta Bwana, Mungu wao.
5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying , Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
Watauliza habari za Sayuni, na nyuso zao zitaelekea huko, wakisema, Njoni ninyi, mjiunge na Bwana, kwa agano la milele ambalo halitasahauliwa.
6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
Watu wangu wamekuwa kondoo waliopotea, wachungaji wao wamewapoteza; wamewapotosha milimani; wamekwenda toka mlima hata kilima, wamesahau mahali pao pa kupumzika.
7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
Watu wote waliowaona wamewala; na adui zao walisema, Sisi hatuna hatia, kwa kuwa hao wametenda dhambi juu ya Bwana, aliye kao la haki, yaani, Bwana, tumaini la baba zao.
8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
Kimbieni kutoka kati ya Babeli, mkatoke katika nchi ya Wakaldayo, mkawe kama mabeberu mbele ya makundi.
9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
Kwa maana juu ya Babeli nitaamsha na kuleta kusanyiko la mataifa makubwa, toka nchi ya kaskazini; nao watajipanga juu yake; kutoka huko atatwaliwa; mishale yao itakuwa kama ya mtu shujaa aliye stadi; hapana hata mmoja utakaorudi bure.
10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.
Nao Ukaldayo utakuwa mateka; wote wautekao watashiba, asema Bwana.
11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
Kwa sababu mnafurahi, kwa sababu mnashangilia, enyi mnaouteka urithi wangu, kwa sababu mmewanda kama mtamba akanyagaye nafaka, nanyi mnalia kama farasi wenye nguvu;
12 your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
mama yenu atatahayarika sana; yeye aliyewazaa atafadhaika; tazama, atakuwa taifa lililo nyuma katika mataifa yote, atakuwa jangwa, nchi ya ukame, na nyika.
13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
Kwa sababu ya ghadhabu ya Bwana haitakaliwa na mtu, bali itakuwa ukiwa mtupu; kila mtu apitaye karibu na Babeli atashangaa, atazomea kwa sababu ya mapigo yake yote.
14 Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.
Jipangeni juu ya Babeli pande zote, Ninyi nyote mpindao upinde; Mpigeni, msiuzuie hata mshale mmoja; Kwa maana amemtenda Bwana dhambi.
15 Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.
Mpigieni kelele pande zote; amejitoa; Maboma yake yameanguka, kuta zake zimebomolewa; Kwa maana ni kisasi cha Bwana; mlipizeni kisasi; Kama yeye alivyotenda, mtendeni yeye.
16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
Mpanzi mkatilie mbali na Babeli, Naye ashikaye mundu wakati wa mavuno; Kwa sababu ya kuuogopa upanga uoneao, Watageuka kila mtu kwa watu wake, Nao wataikimbilia kila mmoja nchi yake.
17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
Israeli ni kondoo aliyetawanywa; simba wamemfukuzia mbali; kwanza mfalme wa Ashuru amemla, na mwisho Nebukadreza huyu, mfalme wa Babeli, amemvunja mifupa yake.
18 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
Basi, Bwana wa majeshi, Mungu wa Israeli, asema hivi, Tazama, mimi nitamwadhibu mfalme wa Babeli, na nchi yake, kama nilivyomwadhibu mfalme wa Ashuru.
19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
Nami nitamleta Israeli tena malishoni kwake, naye atalisha juu ya Karmeli, na Bashani, na nafsi yake itashiba juu ya milima ya Efraimu, na katika Gileadi.
20 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
Katika siku hizo na wakati huo, asema Bwana, uovu wa Israeli utatafutwa, wala uovu hapana; na dhambi za Yuda zitatafutwa, wala hazitaonekana; maana nitawasamehe wale niwaachao kuwa mabaki.
21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
Panda juu ya nchi ya Merathaimu, naam, juu yake, na juu yao wakaao Pekodi; ua, ukaangamize nyuma yao, asema Bwana, ukatende kama nilivyokuagiza, yote pia.
22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
Pana mshindo wa vita katika nchi, Mshindo wa uharibifu mkuu.
23 How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
Imekuwaje nyundo ya dunia yote Kukatiliwa mbali na kuvunjwa? Imekuwaje Babeli kuwa ukiwa Katikati ya mataifa?
24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.
Nimekutegea mtego, Ee Babeli, nawe ukanaswa, nawe ulikuwa huna habari; umeonekana, ukakamatwa, kwa sababu ulishindana na Bwana.
25 The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
Bwana amefungua akiba yake ya silaha, naye amezitoa silaha za ghadhabu yake; maana Bwana, Bwana wa majeshi, ana kazi atakayofanya katika nchi ya Wakaldayo.
26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Njoni juu yake toka mpaka ulio mbali; Zifungueni ghala zake; Mfanyeni kuwa magofu na kumharibu kabisa; Msimsazie kitu cho chote.
27 Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.
Wachinjeni mafahali wake wote; Na watelemkie machinjoni; Ole wao! Maana siku yao imewadia, Wakati wa kujiliwa kwao.
28 The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.
Sauti yao wakimbiao na kuokoka, Kutoka katika nchi ya Babeli, Ili kutangaza Sayuni kisasi cha Bwana, Mungu wetu, Kisasi cha hekalu lake.
29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.
Waiteni wapiga mishale juu ya Babeli, Naam, wote waupindao upinde; Pangeni hema kumzunguka pande zote; Ili asiokoke hata mtu mmoja wao; Mlipeni kwa kadiri ya kazi yake; Mtendeni sawasawa na yote aliyoyatenda; Kwa sababu amefanya kiburi juu ya Bwana, Juu yake aliye Mtakatifu wa Israeli.
30 Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.
Kwa sababu hiyo vijana wake wataanguka katika njia kuu zake, na watu wake wa vita, wote pia, watanyamazishwa katika siku hiyo, asema Bwana.
31 Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.
Tazama, mimi ni juu yako, Ewe mwenye kiburi, asema Bwana, Bwana wa majeshi; maana siku yako imewadia, wakati nitakapokujilia.
32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.
Na mwenye kiburi atajikwaa, na kuanguka, wala hapana atakayemwinua; nami nitawasha moto katika miji yake, nao utawala wote wamzungukao pande zote.
33 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
Bwana wa majeshi asema hivi, Wana wa Israeli, na wana wa Yuda, wameonewa pamoja; na wote waliowachukua mateka wanawashika sana; wanakataa kuwaacha.
34 Their Redeemer is strong; The LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Mkombozi wao ni hodari; Bwana wa majeshi ndilo jina lake; yeye atawatetea kwa bidii, apate kuistarehesha nchi, na kuwasumbua wakaao katika Babeli.
35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men .
Upanga u juu ya Wakaldayo, asema Bwana, na juu yao wakaao Babeli, na juu ya wakuu wake, na juu ya watu wake wenye hekima.
36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
Upanga u juu ya hao wajisifuo, nao watapumbazika; upanga u juu ya mashujaa wake, nao watafadhaika.
37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.
Upanga u juu ya farasi zao, na juu ya magari yao ya vita; na juu ya watu wote waliochanganyika ndani yake, nao watakuwa kama wanawake; upanga u juu ya hazina zake, nazo zitaibwa.
38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
Ukosefu wa mvua u juu ya maji yake, nayo yatakaushwa; maana ni nchi ya sanamu za kuchongwa, nao wameingiwa na wazimu kwa ajili ya sanamu.
39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there , and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.
Basi, wanyama wakali wa jangwani, pamoja na mbwa-mwitu, watakaa huko, na mbuni watakaa ndani yake; wala haitakaliwa na watu milele; wala hapana mtu atakayekaa huko tangu kizazi hata kizazi.
40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
Kama vile vilivyotokea Mungu alipoangusha Sodoma na Gomora, na miji iliyokuwa karibu nayo, asema Bwana; kadhalika hapana mtu atakayekaa huko, wala hapana mwanadamu atakayekaa huko kama wageni wakaavyo.
41 Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
Angalia, watu wanakuja watokao kaskazini; na taifa kubwa, na wafalme wengi wataamshwa toka pande za mwisho za dunia.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.
Wanashika upinde na mkuki; Ni wakatili, hawana huruma; Sauti yao inanguruma kama bahari, Nao wamepanda farasi; Kila mmoja amejipanga kama aendaye vitani, Juu yako, Ee binti Babeli.
43 The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.
Mfalme wa Babeli amesikia habari zao, Na mikono yake imekuwa dhaifu; Dhiki imemshika, na maumivu, Kama ya mwanamke katika utungu wake.
44 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
Angalia, atapanda kama simba toka kiburi cha Yordani juu ya malisho yasiyonyauka; lakini nitamkimbiza ghafula ayaache; na yeye aliye mteule nitamweka juu yake; maana ni nani aliye kama mimi? Tena ni nani atakayeniandikia muda? Tena ni mchungaji yupi atakayesimama mbele zangu?
45 Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
Basi, lisikieni shauri la Bwana, Alilolifanya juu ya Babeli; Na makusudi yake aliyoyakusudia Juu ya nchi ya Wakaldayo. Hakika watawaburura, naam, wadogo wa kundi; Hakika malisho yao yatafadhaika kwa ajili yao.
46 At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
Kwa mshindo wa kutwaliwa Babeli nchi yatetemeka, Na kilio chake chasikiwa katika mataifa.
