1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Basi, kabla ya mambo yote, nataka dua, na sala, na maombezi, na shukrani, zifanyike kwa ajili ya watu wote;
2 for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
kwa ajili ya wafalme na wote wenye mamlaka, tuishi maisha ya utulivu na amani, katika utauwa wote na ustahivu.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Hili ni zuri, nalo lakubalika mbele za Mungu Mwokozi wetu;
4 who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
ambaye hutaka watu wote waokolewe, na kupata kujua yaliyo kweli.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Kwa sababu Mungu ni mmoja, na mpatanishi kati ya Mungu na wanadamu ni mmoja, Mwanadamu Kristo Yesu;
6 who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
ambaye alijitoa mwenyewe kuwa ukombozi kwa ajili ya wote, utakaoshuhudiwa kwa majira yake.
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
Nami kwa ajili ya huo naliwekwa niwe mhubiri na mtume, (nasema kweli, sisemi uongo), mwalimu wa Mataifa katika imani na kweli.
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Basi, nataka wanaume wasalishe kila mahali, huku wakiinua mikono iliyotakata pasipo hasira wala majadiliano.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
Vivyo hivyo wanawake na wajipambe kwa mavazi ya kujisitiri, pamoja na adabu nzuri, na moyo wa kiasi; si kwa kusuka nywele, wala kwa dhahabu na lulu, wala kwa nguo za thamani;
10 but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
bali kwa matendo mema, kama iwapasavyo wanawake wanaoukiri uchaji wa Mungu.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
Mwanamke na ajifunze katika utulivu, akitii kwa kila namna.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Simpi mwanamke ruhusa ya kufundisha, wala kumtawala mwanamume, bali awe katika utulivu.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
Kwa maana Adamu ndiye aliyeumbwa kwanza, na Hawa baadaye.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Wala Adamu hakudanganywa, ila mwanamke alidanganywa kabisa akaingia katika hali ya kukosa.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Walakini ataokolewa kwa uzazi wake, kama wakidumu katika imani na upendo na utakaso, pamoja na moyo wa kiasi.
