Moses and Aaron Challenged
1 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
Basi Kora, mwana wa Ishari, mwana wa Kohathi, mwana wa Lawi, akatwaa watu, pamoja na Dathani na Abiramu, wana wa Eliabu, na Oni, mwana wa Pelethi, waliokuwa wana wa Reubeni;
2 and they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
nao, pamoja na watu kadha wa kadha wa wana wa Israeli, watu mia mbili na hamsini, Wakuu wa mkutano, waliokuwa wateule wa mkutano, watu wenye sifa, wakainuka mbele ya Musa;
3 and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
nao wakakusanyika kinyume cha Musa na Haruni, na kuwaambia, Ninyi inawatosha, kwa kuwa mkutano wote ni mtakatifu, kila mmoja miongoni mwao, Bwana naye yu kati yao; n'nini basi kujitukuza juu ya mkutano wa Bwana?
4 And when Moses heard it , he fell upon his face:
Musa aliposikia maneno haya, akapomoka kifudifudi;
5 and he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
kisha akanena na Kora na mkutano wake wote, akawaambia, Asubuhi Bwana ataonyesha ni kina nani walio wake, kisha ni nani aliye mtakatifu, tena ni nani atakayemkaribisha kwake; maana, yeye atakayemchagua ndiye atakayemsongeza kwake.
6 This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
Fanyeni neno hili; twaeni vyetezo, ninyi Kora na mkutano wake wote;
7 and put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
vitieni na moto, mkaweke na uvumba juu yake mbele za Bwana kesho; kisha itakuwa ya kwamba mtu Bwana atakayemchagua, yeye atakuwa mtakatifu; inawatosha ninyi, enyi wana wa Lawi.
8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
Musa akamwambia Kora, Sikizeni basi, enyi Wana wa Lawi;
9 seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
Je! Mwaona kuwa ni jambo dogo kwenu, kuwa Mungu wa Israeli amewatenga ninyi na mkutano wa Israeli, ili apate kuwakaribisha kwake; ili mfanye utumishi wa maskani ya Bwana, na kusimama mbele ya mkutano ili kuwatumikia;
10 And he hath brought thee near to him , and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
tena ya kuwa amekuleta uwe karibu, na ndugu zako wote wana wa Lawi pamoja nawe? Nanyi, je! Mwataka na ukuhani pia?
11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
Kwa sababu hii wewe na mkutano wako wote mmekusanyika kinyume cha Bwana; na Haruni, je! Yeye ni nani hata mkamnung'unikia?
12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
Kisha Musa akatuma kuwaita Dathani na Abiramu, wana wa Eliabu; nao wakasema, Hatuji sisi;
13 is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
je! Ni jambo dogo, wewe kutuleta kutoka nchi iliyojawa na maziwa na asali, ili kutuua jangwani, lakini pamoja na haya wajikuza mwenyewe uwe mkuu juu yetu kabisa?
14 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
Kisha, hukutuleta katika nchi iliyojawa na maziwa na asali, wala hukutupa urithi wa mashamba, na mashamba ya mizabibu; je! Unataka kuwatoboa macho watu hawa? Hatuji.
15 And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
Musa akakasirika sana, akamwambia Bwana. Usiikubali sadaka yao; mimi sikutwaa hata punda mmoja kwao, wala sikumwumiza hata mtu mmoja miongoni mwao.
16 And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
Kisha Musa akamwambia Kora, Wewe na mkutano wako wote iweni hapa mbele ya Bwana kesho, wewe, na wao, na Haruni;
17 and take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
mkatwae kila mtu chetezo chake, na kutia uvumba juu yake, mkavilete mbele za Bwana, vyetezo mia mbili na hamsini; wewe pia, na Haruni, kila mtu na awe na chetezo chake.
18 And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
Basi wakavitwaa kila mtu chetezo chake, wakatia na moto ndani yake, wakatia na uvumba juu ya moto, na kusimama pale mlangoni pa hema ya kukutania, pamoja na Musa na Haruni.
19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.
Kisha Kora akakutanisha mkutano wote kinyume chao mlangoni pa hema ya kukutania; na utukufu wa Bwana ukatokea mbele ya mkutano wote.
20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
Kisha Bwana akanena na Musa na Haruni, na kuwaambia,
21 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
Jitengeni ninyi mkaondoke kati ya mkutano huu, ili nipate kuwaangamiza mara moja.
22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
Nao wakapomoka kifudifudi, wakasema, Ee Mungu, Mungu wa roho za wenye mwili wote, je! Mtu mmoja atafanya dhambi, nawe utaukasirikia mkutano wote?
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Bwana akasema na Musa, na kumwambia,
24 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
Nena na mkutano, na kuwaambia, Ondokeni ninyi hapo karibu na maskani ya Kora, na Dathani, na Abiramu.
25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
Basi Musa akainuka na kuwaendea Dathani na Abiramu; na wazee wa Israeli wakaandamana naye.
26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
Akasema na mkutano, na kuwaambia, Nawasihi, ondokeni penye hema za hawa watu waovu, wala msiguse kitu chao cho chote, msiangamizwe katika dhambi zao zote.
27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
Basi wakaondoka hapo karibu na maskani ya Kora, na Dathani na Abiramu, pande zote; nao kina Dathani na Abiramu wakatoka nje wakasimama mlangoni mwa hema zao, pamoja na wake zao, na wana wao na watoto wao wadogo.
28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Musa akasema, Kwa jambo hili mtajua ya kwamba Bwana amenituma, ili nifanye kazi hizi zote; kwa kuwa mimi sikuzifanya kwa akili zangu mwenyewe.
29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
Kama watu hawa wakifa kifo cha sikuzote, kama watu wote wafavyo, au kama wakipatilizwa kwa mapatilizo ya watu wote; hapo basi Bwana hakunituma mimi.
30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
Lakini Bwana akiumba kitu kipya, na hiyo nchi ikifunua kinywa chake na kuwameza, pamoja na wote walio nao, nao washukia shimoni wali hai; ndipo mtatambua ya kwamba watu hawa wamemdharau Bwana
31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
Basi ilikuwa, hapo alipokwisha kusema maneno haya yote, nchi iliyokuwa chini yao ikapasuka;
32 and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
nchi ikafunua kinywa chake, na kuwameza, na watu wa nyumba zao na wote walioshikamana na Kora, na vyombo vyao vyote.
33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
Basi wao, na wote waliokuwa nao, wakashukia shimoni wali hai; nayo nchi ikawafunika wakaangamia kutoka mle mkutanoni.
34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also .
Nao Israeli wote waliokuwa kando-kando yao wakakimbia kwa ajili ya kilio chao; kwa kuwa walisema, Nchi isije kutumeza na sisi.
35 And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
Kisha moto ukatoka kwa Bwana, ukawateketeza hao watu mia mbili hamsini waliofukiza uvumba.
36 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Kisha Bwana akanena na Musa, na kumwambia,
37 Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
Mwambie Eleazari mwana wa Haruni kuhani, avitoe vile vyetezo hapo penye moto ukaumwage huo moto kule; kwani ni vitakatifu;
38 The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
vile vyetezo vya hao waliofanya dhambi na kuzihasiri nafsi zao wenyewe, na vifanywe mbao za kufuliwa kuwa kifuniko cha madhabahu; kwa kuwa walivisongeza mbele za Bwana, navyo ni vitakatifu; vitakuwa ishara kwa wana wa Israeli.
39 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
Basi Eleazari kuhani akavitwaa vile vyetezo vya shaba, vilivyosongezwa na hao walioteketezwa; nao wakavifua viwe kifuniko cha madhabahu;
40 to be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
viwe ukumbusho kwa wana wa Israeli, ili mgeni awaye yote asiye wa kizazi cha Haruni, asikaribie kufukiza uvumba mbele za Bwana; asiwe mfano wa Kora, na mkutano wake; kama Bwana alivyonena naye, kwa mkono wa Musa.
41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.
Lakini siku ya pili yake mkutano wote wa wana wa Israeli wakamnung'unikia Musa, na Haruni, wakasema, Ninyi mmewaua watu wa Bwana.
42 And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.
Basi ilikuwa, hapo huo mkutano ulipokuwa umekutanika kinyume cha Musa, na kinyume cha Haruni, wakaangalia upande wa hema ya kukutania; na tazama, hilo wingu likaifunika hema, na utukufu wa Bwana ukaonekana.
43 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
Na Musa na Haruni wakaenda hapo mbele ya hema ya kukutania.
44 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Naye Bwana akanena na Musa, na kumwambia,
45 Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
Ondokeni kati ya mkutano, ili niwaangamize mara moja. Wao wakapomoka kifudifudi.
46 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
Musa akamwambia Haruni, Haya, shika chetezo chako, ukatie moto ndani yake, moto wa madhabahuni, kisha utie na uvumba juu ya moto, ukakichukue haraka, wende nacho katika huo mkutano, ukawafanyie upatanisho; kwa kuwa ghadhabu zimetoka kwa Bwana; hiyo tauni imeanza.
47 And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
Basi Haruni akakishika chetezo kama Musa alivyonena, akapiga mbio akaenda katikati ya mkutano; na tazama, tauni ilikuwa imeanza kati ya watu; akatia uvumba juu ya moto na kufanya upatanisho kwa ajili ya hao watu.
48 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
Akasimama kati ya hao waliokufa na hao waliokuwa wakali hai; tauni ikazuiwa.
49 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
Basi waliokufa kwa tauni walikuwa kumi na nne elfu na mia saba, zaidi ya hao waliokufa katika jambo la Kora.
50 And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
Haruni akamrudia Musa pale mlangoni pa hema ya kukutania; hiyo tauni ikazuiwa.
