Division of the Land
1 Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
Basi Yoshua alipokuwa mzee, na kwendelea sana miaka yake, Bwana akamwambia, Wewe umekuwa mzee na kwendelea sana miaka yako, kisha inasalia nchi nyingi sana bado kumilikiwa.
2 This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
Nchi iliyosalia ni hii; nchi zote za Wafilisti, na Wageshuri wote;
3 from Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
kutoka Shihori, hicho kijito kilichokabili Misri, hata mpaka wa Ekroni upande wa kaskazini, nchi inayohesabiwa kuwa ni ya hao Wakanaani; mashehe matano wa hao Wafilisti; Wagaza, na Waashdodi, na Waashkeloni, na Wagiti, na Waekroni; tena Waavi,
4 from the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
upande wa kusini; nchi yote ya Wakanaani na Meara iliyo ya Wasidoni, mpaka Afeka, hata mpaka wa Waamori;
5 and the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
na nchi ya Wagebali na Lebanoni yote, upande wa kuelekea maawio ya jua, kutoka Baal-gadi ulio chini ya mlima wa Hermoni mpaka kufikilia maingilio ya Hamathi;
6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-maim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
na watu wote wenye kuikaa nchi ya vilima kutoka Lebanoni hata Misrefoth-maimu, maana, hao Wasidoni wote; hao wote nitawafukuza watoke mbele ya wana wa Israeli; lakini wewe uwape Israeli kuwa ni urithi wao, kama nilivyokuamuru.
7 Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
Basi sasa gawanya nchi hii, iwe urithi wa hizi kabila kenda, na nusu ya kabila ya Manase.
8 with whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;
Pamoja na yeye, Wareubeni na Wagadi walipata urithi wao, waliopewa na Musa, huko ng'ambo ya Yordani upande wa mashariki, vile vile kama huyo Musa mtumishi wa Bwana alivyowapa;
9 from Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dibon;
kutoka huko Aroeri, iliyo pale ukingoni mwa bonde la Amoni, na huo mji ulio pale katikati ya bonde, na nchi tambarare yote ya Medeba mpaka Diboni;
10 and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the children of Ammon;
na miji yote ya Sihoni mfalme wa Waamori, aliyetawala katika Heshboni, hata mpaka wa wana wa Amoni;
11 and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah;
na Gileadi na mpaka wa Wageshuri, na Wamaaka, na mlima wa Hermoni wote, na Bashani yote mpaka Saleka;
12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
ufalme wote wa Ogu uliokuwa katika Bashani, huyo aliyekuwa akitawala katika Ashtarothi na katika Edrei (huyo alisalia katika mabaki ya wale Warefai); kwa kuwa Musa aliwapiga hao na kuwafukuza.
13 Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor the Maachathites: but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
Pamoja na hayo wana wa Israeli hawakuwafukuza Wageshuri, wala Wamaaka; lakini Wageshuri na Wamaaka wamekaa kati ya Israeli, hata siku hii ya leo.
14 Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
Lakini hakuwapa watu wa kabila ya Lawi urithi uwao wote; maana sadaka za Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, zisongezwazo kwa njia ya moto ndizo urithi wake huyo, kama alivyomwambia.
In the East
15 And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families.
Musa akawapa kabila ya wana wa Reubeni kwa kadiri ya jamaa zao.
16 And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
Mpaka wao ulikuwa kutoka hapo Aroeri, iliyo pale ukingoni mwa bonde la Arnoni, na huo mji ulio katikati ya bonde, na nchi tambarare yote iliyo karibu na Medeba;
17 Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,
na Heshboni na miji yake yote iliyoko katika bonde; na Diboni, na Bamoth-baali, na Beth-baal-meoni;
18 and Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
na Yahasa, na Kedemothi, na Mefaathi;
19 and Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
na Kiriathaimu, na Sibma, na Sereth-shahari katika kilima cha hilo bonde;
20 and Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth,
na Beth-peori, na nchi za matelemko ya Pisga, na Beth-yeshimothi;
21 and all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
na miji yote ya nchi tambarare, na ufalme wote wa Sihoni mfalme wa Waamori, aliyekuwa akitawala katika Heshboni, aliyepigwa na Musa pamoja na hao wakubwa wa Midiani, nao ni Evi, na Rekemu, na Suri, na Huri, na Reba, hao mashehe wa Sihoni, waliokuwa katika nchi hiyo.
22 Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.
Balaamu naye, huyo mwana wa Beori, huyo mchawi, wana wa Israeli walimwua kwa upanga kati ya hao wengine waliowaua.
23 And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof . This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
Na mpaka wa wana wa Reubeni ulikuwa ni mto wa Yordani, na mpaka wake. Huo ndio urithi wa wana wa Reubeni sawasawa na jamaa zao, miji yake na vijiji vyake.
24 And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families.
Musa akawapa kabila ya Gadi, hao wana wa Gadi, kwa kadiri ya jamaa zao.
25 And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;
Mpaka wao ulikuwa ni Yazeri, na miji hiyo ya Gileadi, na nusu ya nchi ya wana wa Amoni, mpaka Aroeri uliokabili Raba;
26 and from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;
tena kutoka Heshboni mpaka Ramath-Mizpe, na Betonimu; tena kutoka Mahanaimu hata mpaka wa Debiri;
27 and in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
tena katika bonde, Beth-haramu, na Bethnimira, na Sukothi, na Safoni, hiyo iliyosalia ya ufalme wa Sihoni mfalme wa Heshboni, yaani mto wa Yordani na mpaka wake, mpaka mwisho wa bahari ya Kinerethi ng'ambo ya pili ya Yordani upande wa mashariki.
28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
Huo ndio urithi wa wana wa Gadi sawasawa na jamaa zao, miji yake na vijiji vyake.
29 And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.
Kisha Musa akawapa hao wa nusu ya kabila ya Manase urithi wao; ulikuwa ni wa hiyo nusu ya kabila ya wana wa Manase sawasawa na jamaa zao.
30 And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:
Na mpaka wao ulikuwa kutoka huko Mahanaimu, Bashani yote, na ufalme wote wa Ogu mfalme wa Bashani, na miji yote ya Yairi, iliyo katika Bashani, miji sitini;
31 and half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
na nusu ya Gileadi, na Ashtarothi, na Edrei, hiyo miji ya ufalme wa Ogu katika Bashani, ilikuwa ni ya wana wa Makiri mwana wa Manase maana, kwa hiyo nusu ya wana wa Makiri sawasawa na jamaa zao.
32 These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
Hizi ndizo mirathi ambazo Musa alizigawanya katika nchi tambarare za Moabu, ng'ambo ya pili ya Yordani, kukabili Yeriko, upande wa mashariki.
33 But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
Lakini Musa hakuwapa kabila ya Lawi urithi uwao wote; yeye Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, ndiye urithi wao, kama alivyowaambia.
