Broken Pottery
1 Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
Bwana akasema hivi, Enenda ukanunue gudulia la mfinyanzi, ukachukue pamoja nawe baadhi ya wazee wa watu, na baadhi ya wazee wa makuhani;
2 and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
ukatoke uende mpaka bonde la mwana wa Hinomu lililo karibu na mahali pa kuingia kwa lango la vigae, ukahubiri huko maneno nitakayokuambia,
3 and say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
ukisema, Lisikieni neno la Bwana, enyi wafalme wa Yuda, na wenyeji wa Yerusalemu; Bwana wa majeshi, Mungu wa Israeli asema hivi, Angalieni, nitaleta mabaya juu ya mahali hapa, ambayo mtu ye yote akisikia habari yake, masikio yake yatawaka.
4 Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Kwa sababu wameniacha mimi, nao wamepafanya mahali hapa kuwa mahali pageni, nao hapa wamewafukizia uvumba miungu mingine wasiowajua, wala wao, wala baba zao, wala wafalme wa Yuda; nao wamepajaza mahali hapa damu ya wasio na hatia;
5 they have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it , neither came it into my mind:
nao wamemjengea Baali mahali pake palipo juu, ili kuwachoma moto wana wao, wawe sadaka za kuteketezwa kwa Baali; tendo nisiloliamuru mimi, wala kulinena, wala halikuingia moyoni mwangu;
6 therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.
basi, angalieni, siku zinakuja, asema Bwana, ambazo katika siku hizo mahali hapa hapataitwa tena Tofethi, wala Bonde la mwana wa Hinomu, bali, Bonde la Machinjo.
7 And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Nami nitalitangua shauri la Yuda na Yerusalemu mahali hapa; nami nitawaangusha kwa upanga mbele za adui zao, na kwa mkono wa watu watafutao roho zao; na mizoga yao nitawapa ndege wa angani na wanyama wakali wa nchi, iwe chakula chao.
8 And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
Nami nitaufanya mji huu kuwa kitu cha kushangaza watu, na kuzomewa; kila mtu apitaye karibu nao atashangaa, na kuzomea kwa sababu ya mapigo yake.
9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.
Nami nitawalazimisha kula nyama ya wana wao, na nyama ya binti zao, nao watakula kila mmoja nyama ya rafiki yake, wakati wa mazingira na dhiki, ambayo adui zao, na watu wale watafutao roho zao, watawadhiikisha.
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
Ndipo hapo utalivunja gudulia lile, mbele ya macho ya watu wale waendao pamoja nawe,
11 and shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.
na kuwaambia, Bwana wa majeshi asema hivi, Hivyo ndivyo nitakavyowavunja watu hawa, na mji huu, kama mtu avunjavyo chombo cha mfinyanzi, kisichoweza kutengenezwa tena na kuwa kizima; nao watazika watu katika Tofethi hata hapatabaki mahali pa kuzika.
12 Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:
Hivyo ndivyo nitakavyopatenda mahali hapa, asema Bwana, nao wakaao humo, hata kufanya mji huu kuwa kama Tofethi;
13 and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
na nyumba za Yerusalemu, na nyumba za wafalme wa Yuda, zilizotiwa unajisi, zitakuwa kama mahali pa Tofethi; naam, nyumba zote ambazo juu ya dari zake wamelifukizia uvumba jeshi lote la mbinguni, na kuwamiminia miungu mingine sadaka za kunywewa.
14 Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD's house; and said to all the people,
Kisha Yeremia akatoka huko Tofethi, huko ambako Bwana alimtuma atoe unabii; naye akasimama katika ua wa nyumba ya Bwana, akawaambia watu wote,
15 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
Bwana wa majeshi, Mungu wa Israeli, asema hivi, Tazama, nitaleta juu ya mji huu, na juu ya vijiji vyake vyote, mabaya yote niliyoyanena juu yake; kwa sababu wamefanya shingo zao kuwa ngumu, kusudi wasiyasikie maneno yangu.
