1 Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.
Ndipo wana wa Israeli walipotoka; na mkutano ukakutanika kama mtu mmoja, kutoka Dani hata Beer-sheba, pamoja na nchi ya Gileadi wakamkutanikia Bwana huko Mispa.
2 And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.
Hao wakuu wa watu, maana wakuu wa kabila zote za Israeli, wakajihudhurisha katika huo mkutano wa watu wa Mungu, watu waume mia nne elfu waendao kwa miguu, wenye kutumia upanga.
3 (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel, Tell us , how was this wickedness?
Basi wana wa Benyamini walipata habari ya kuwa wana wa Israeli wamekwea kwenda Mispa. Wana wa Israeli wakasema, Tuambieni huo uovu ulikuwaje kutendeka?
4 And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
Huyo Mlawi, huyo mume wa mwanamke aliyeuawa, akajibu na kusema, Mimi nilifikilia Gibea ulio wa Benyamini mimi na suria yangu, ili tulale.
5 And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.
Nao watu waume wa Gibea wakaniondokea, na kuizingira hiyo nyumba pande zote juu yangu wakati wa usiku; walidhani kuniua, na suria wangu wakamtenza nguvu, hata amekufa.
6 And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
Basi nikamtwaa huyo suria yangu, na kumkata vipande, na kumpeleka katika nchi yote ya urithi wa Israeli; kwa sababu wametenda maovu makuu na upumbavu katika Israeli.
7 Behold, ye are all children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.
Angalieni, ninyi wana wa Israeli nyote, sasa toeni maneno na mashauri yenu.
8 And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.
Basi watu hao wote waliinuka kama mtu mmoja, wakisema, Hatutakwenda, hata mmoja, hemani kwake, wala hatutaondoka, hata mmoja, kwenda nyumbani kwake.
9 But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it;
Lakini jambo tutakalowatenda watu wa Gibea ni hili; tutakwea kwa kura kwenda kuupiga;
10 and we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.

11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

12 And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?
Kisha kabila za Israeli wakatuma watu waende katika kabila yote ya Benyamini, wakasema, Je! Ni uovu gani huu uliokuwa kati yenu?
13 Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
Basi sasa watoeni watu hao, hao mabaradhuli walio katika Gibea, ili kwamba tupate kuwaua, na kuuondoa uovu katika Israeli. Lakini Benyamini hawakukubali kuisikia sauti ya ndugu zao wana wa Israeli.
14 but the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
Lakini wana wa Benyamini wakakutanika huko Gibea kutoka katika miji yao, ili watoke kwenda kupiga vita juu ya wana wa Israeli.
15 And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
Hao wana wa Benyamini walihesabiwa siku ile kutoka hiyo miji, watu waume ishirini na sita elfu waliotumia upanga, zaidi ya hao waliokaa Gibea, ambao walihesabiwa watu wateule mia saba.
16 Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth , and not miss.
Katika watu hao wote walikuwako watu waume mia saba waliochaguliwa, wenye shoto; kila mmoja alikuwa anaweza kuutupia unywele mawe kwa teo, wala asikose.
17 And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.
Nao watu wa Israeli, mbali na hao wa Benyamini, walihesabiwa kuwa ni watu waume mia nne elfu, wenye kutumia upanga; hao wote walikuwa ni watu wa vita.
18 And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.
Basi wana wa Israeli wakainuka, wakakwea kwenda Betheli, nao wakataka shauri kwa Mungu; wakasema, Ni nani atakayekwea kwenda vitani kwanza kwa ajili yetu juu ya wana wa Benyamini? Bwana akawaambia, Yuda atakwea kwanza.
19 And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.
Basi wana wa Israeli waliondoka asubuhi, wakapanga hema zao juu ya Gibea.
20 And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
Watu wa Israeli walitoka ili wapigane na Benyamini; nao watu wa Israeli wakaviandaa vita juu yao huko Gibea.
21 And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
Wana wa Benyamini wakatoka Gibea, wakaangamiza hata nchi watu ishirini na mbili elfu katika Israeli siku hiyo.
22 And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
Lakini watu hao, watu wa Israeli, walijitia nguvu, wakaviandaa vile vita mara ya pili mahali pale walipojiandaa siku ya kwanza.
23 (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)
Wana wa Israeli wakakwea juu na kulia mbele za Bwana hata jioni; wakamwuliza Bwana, wakisema, Je! Niende nikaribie tena kupiga vita juu ya wana wa Benyamini ndugu yangu? Bwana akasema, Haya, kweeni, mwende kupigana naye.
24 And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.
Basi wana wa Israeli wakakaribia juu ya wana wa Benyamini siku ya pili.
25 And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
Benyamini alitoka kupigana nao kutoka Gibea siku ya pili, wakaangamiza hata nchi watu kumi na nane elfu tena katika watu wa Israeli; hao wote walikuwa wenye kutumia upanga.
26 Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
Ndipo wana Israeli wote, na hao watu wote, wakakwea, wakaenda Betheli, na kulia, wakaketi hapo mbele za Bwana, wakafunga siku hiyo hata jioni; nao wakasongeza sadaka za kuteketezwa na sadaka za amani mbele za Bwana.
27 And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,
Kisha wana wa Israeli wakauliza kwa Bwana (kwa sababu sanduku la agano la Mungu lilikuwako huko siku hizo,
28 and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.
na Finehasi, mwana wa Eleazari, mwana wa Haruni, alikuwa anasimama mbele ya hilo sanduku siku hizo), wakasema, Je! Nitoke tena niende kupigana na wana wa Benyamini ndugu yangu, au niache? Bwana akawaambia, Haya, kweeni; kwa kuwa kesho nitamtoa na kumtia mkononi mwako.
29 And Israel set liers in wait round about Gibeah.
Basi Israeli akaweka watu wavizie kinyume cha Gibea kuuzunguka pande zote.
30 And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.
Basi wana wa Israeli wakakwea kwenda kupigana na wana wa Benyamini siku ya tatu, wakajipanga ili kupigana na Gibea, kama walivyofanya nyakati nyingine.
31 And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
Nao wana wa Benyamini wakatoka waende kupigana nao, wakavutwa waende mbali na huo mji; kisha wakaanza kupiga na kuua katika hao watu, wapata kama watu thelathini wa Israeli, kama walivyofanya nyakati nyingine, katika hizo njia kuu, ambazo njia mojawapo huendelea Betheli, na njia ya pili huendelea Gibea, katika shamba.
32 And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.
Wana wa Benyamini wakasema, Wamepigwa mbele yetu kama kwanza. Lakini wana wa Israeli wakasema, Haya, na tukimbie, na kuwavuta wauache mji waende katika njia kuu.
33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baal-tamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
Basi hao watu wote wa Israeli wakaondoka mahali pao wakajipanga huko Baal-tamari; na hao wenye kuvizia wa Israeli wakatoka mahali hapo walipokuwa, hata Maare-geba.
34 And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
Kisha watu elfu kumi waliochaguliwa katika Israeli wote wakaja juu ya Gibea, na vile vita vilikuwa vikali sana; lakini hawakujua ya kuwa uovu ulikuwa karibu nao.
35 And the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.
Bwana akampiga Benyamini mbele ya Israeli; na wana wa Israeli waliangamiza watu waume ishirini na tano elfu na mia moja, wa Benyamini siku hiyo; wote hao waliokuwa wenye kutumia upanga.
36 So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
Basi wana wa Benyamini waliona kuwa wamepigwa; kwa kuwa watu wa Israeli wakaondoka mbele ya Benyamini, kwa sababu walikuwa wanawatumaini hao wenye kuvizia waliokuwa wamewaweka kinyume cha Gibea.
37 And the liers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the liers in wait drew themselves along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.
Hao wenye kuvizia wakafanya haraka, wakaurukia Gibea; na hao wenye kuvizia wakaenda wakaupiga huo mji wote kwa makali ya upanga.
38 Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
Basi hiyo ishara iliyoaganwa kati ya watu wa Israeli na hao wenye kuvizia ilikuwa ni hii, kwamba wafanye lipande wingu kubwa la moshi kutoka katika huo mji.
39 And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.
Nao watu wa Israeli walipogeuka katika vile vita, Benyamini naye akaanza kupiga na kuwaua watu wa Israeli kama watu thelathini; kwani walisema, Hakika yetu wamepigwa mbele yetu, vile vile kama katika vile vita vya kwanza.
40 But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.
Lakini hapo hilo wingu lilipoanza kupanda kutoka katika mji, kama nguzo ya moshi, ndipo Wabenyamini wakaangalia nyuma, na tazama, huo mji mzima ulikuwa wapaa juu katika moshi kwenda mbinguni.
41 And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.
Ndipo watu wa Israeli wakageuka, na watu wa Benyamini walisitushwa; kwa kuwa waliona ya kwamba wamefikiliwa na uovu.
42 Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
Kwa hiyo wakageuza maungo yao mbele ya wana wa Israeli kuelekea njia ya kwenda nyikani; lakini vile vita vikawaandamia kwa kasi; na hao waliotoka katika ile miji wakawaangamiza katikati yake.
43 Thus they inclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease over against Gibeah toward the sunrising.
Waliwazingira Wabenyamini pande zote na kuwafukuza, na kuwakanyaga-kanyaga hapo walipopumzika, hata kufikilia Gibea upande wa maawio ya jua.
44 And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.
Wakaanguka watu wa Benyamini watu kumi na nane elfu, hao wote walikuwa ni watu waume mashujaa.
45 And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
Kisha wakageuka na kukimbia upande wa nyika hata kulifikilia jabali la Rimoni; nao wakaokota katika watu hao katika njia kuu watu waume elfu tano; wakawaandamia kwa kasi mpaka Gidomu, nako wakawapiga wengine wao watu elfu mbili.
46 So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.
Basi jumla ya watu wa Benyamini walioanguka siku ile walikuwa ni watu ishirini na tano elfu waliokuwa wanatumia upanga; wote hao walikuwa ni watu mashujaa.
47 But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.
Lakini watu waume mia sita wakageuka, wakakimbia upande wa nyikani mpaka jabali la Rimoni, wakakaa kwenye hilo jabali la Rimoni muda wa miezi minne.
48 And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
Kisha watu wa Israeli wakageuka tena kuwaendea wana wa Benyamini, wakawapiga kwa makali ya upanga, huo mji mzima, na hao wanyama wa mji, na kila kitu walichokiona; tena miji yote waliyoiona wakaitia moto.
