Peter and John Imprisoned
1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
Hata walipokuwa wakisema na watu wale, makuhani na akida wa hekalu na Masadukayo wakawatokea,
2 being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
wakifadhaika sana kwa sababu wanawafundisha watu na kuhubiri katika Yesu ufufuo wa wafu.
3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
Wakawakamata, wakawaweka gerezani hata asubuhi; kwa kuwa imekwisha kuwa jioni.
4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
Lakini wengi katika hao waliosikia lile neno waliamini; na hesabu ya watu waume ikawa kama elfu tano.
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
Hata asubuhi wakubwa na wazee na waandishi wakakusanyika Yerusalemu,
6 and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
na Anasi Kuhani Mkuu, na Kayafa pia, na Yohana na Iskanda, na wote wale waliokuwa jamaa zake Kuhani Mkuu.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
Walipowaweka katikati wakawauliza, Kwa nguvu gani na kwa jina la nani ninyi mmefanya haya?
Peter's Defence
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Ndipo Petro, akijaa Roho Mtakatifu, akawaambia, Enyi wakubwa wa watu na wazee wa Israeli,
9 if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
kama tukiulizwa leo habari ya jambo jema alilofanyiwa yule mtu dhaifu, jinsi alivyoponywa,
10 be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
jueni ninyi nyote na watu wote wa Israeli ya kuwa kwa jina la Yesu Kristo wa Nazareti, ambaye ninyi mlimsulibisha, na Mungu akamfufua katika wafu, kwa jina hilo mtu huyu anasimama ali mzima mbele yenu.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Yeye ndiye jiwe lile lililodharauliwa na ninyi waashi, nalo limewekwa kuwa jiwe kuu la pembeni.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Wala hakuna wokovu katika mwingine awaye yote, kwa maana hapana jina jingine chini ya mbingu walilopewa wanadamu litupasalo sisi kuokolewa kwalo.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Basi walipoona ujasiri wa Petro na Yohana, na kuwajua ya kuwa ni watu wasio na elimu, wasio na maarifa, wakastaajabu, wakawatambua ya kwamba walikuwa pamoja na Yesu.
14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
Na wakimwona yule aliyeponywa akisimama pamoja nao hawakuwa na neno la kujibu.
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
Wakawaamuru kutoka katika baraza, wakafanya shauri wao kwa wao,
16 saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it .
wakisema, Tuwafanyie nini watu hawa? Maana ni dhahiri kwa watu wote wakaao Yerusalemu ya kwamba ishara mashuhuri imefanywa nao, wala hatuwezi kuikana.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
Lakini neno hili lisije likaenea katika watu, na tuwatishe wasiseme tena na mtu awaye yote kwa jina hili.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
Wakawaita, wakawaamuru wasiseme kabisa wala kufundisha kwa jina la Yesu.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
Petro na Yohana wakawajibu wakawaambia, Kwamba ni haki mbele za Mungu kuwasikiliza ninyi kuliko Mungu, hukumuni ninyi wenyewe;
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
maana sisi hatuwezi kuacha kuyanena mambo tuliyoyaona na kuyasikia.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
Nao walipokwisha kuwatisha tena wakawafungua, wasione njia ya kuwaadhibu, kwa sababu ya watu; kwa kuwa watu wote walikuwa wakimtukuza Mungu kwa hayo yaliyotendeka;
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
maana umri wake yule mtu aliyefanyiwa ishara hii ya kuponya ulipita miaka arobaini.
23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
Hata walipofunguliwa, wakaenda kwa watu wao, wakawapasha habari ya mambo yote waliyoambiwa na wakuu wa makuhani na wazee.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
Nao waliposikia, wakampazia Mungu sauti zao kwa moyo mmoja, wakisema, Mola, wewe ndiwe Mungu, ndiwe uliyefanya mbingu na nchi na bahari na vitu vyote vilivyomo;
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said,
Why did the heathen rage,
And the people imagine vain things?
nawe ulinena kwa Roho Mtakatifu kwa kinywa cha babaetu Daudi, mtumishi wako, Mbona mataifa wamefanya ghasia, Na makabila wametafakari ubatili?
26 The kings of the earth stood up,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord, and against his Christ.
Wafalme wa dunia wamejipanga, Na wakuu wamefanya shauri pamoja Juu ya Bwana na juu ya Kristo wake.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Maana ni kweli, Herode na Pontio Pilato pamoja na Mataifa na watu wa Israeli, walikusanyika katika mji huu juu ya Mtumishi wako mtakatifu Yesu, uliyemtia mafuta,
28 for to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
ili wafanye yote ambayo mkono wako na mashauri yako yamekusudia tangu zamani yatokee.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
Basi sasa, Bwana, yaangalie matisho yao; ukawajalie watumwa wako kunena neno lako kwa ujasiri wote,
30 by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
ukinyosha mkono wako kuponya; ishara na maajabu vifanyike kwa jina la Mtumishi wako mtakatifu Yesu.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Hata walipokwisha kumwomba Mungu, mahali pale walipokusanyika pakatikiswa, wote wakajaa Roho Mtakatifu, wakanena neno la Mungu kwa ujasiri.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
Na jamii ya watu walioamini walikuwa na moyo mmoja na roho moja; wala hapana mmoja aliyesema ya kuwa kitu cho chote alicho nacho ni mali yake mwenyewe; bali walikuwa na vitu vyote shirika.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Na mitume wakatoa ushuhuda wa kufufuka kwake Yesu kwa nguvu nyingi, na neema nyingi ikawa juu yao wote.
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
Wala hapakuwa na mtu mmoja miongoni mwao mwenye mahitaji; kwa sababu watu wote waliokuwa na viwanja au nyumba waliviuza, wakaileta thamani ya vitu vile vilivyouzwa,
35 and laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
wakaiweka miguuni pa mitume; kila mtu akagawiwa kwa kadiri ya alivyohitaji.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
Na Yusufu, aliyeitwa na mitume Barnaba, (maana yake, Mwana wa faraja), Mlawi, asili yake ni mtu wa Kipro,
37 having land, sold it , and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
alikuwa na shamba akaliuza, akaileta fedha, akaiweka miguuni pa mitume.
