Under Egypt
1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
Watu wa nchi wakamtwaa Yehoahazi mwana wa Yosia, wakamtawaza awe mfalme katika Yerusalemu badala ya babaye.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
Naye mfalme wa Misri akamwondoa katika Yerusalemu, akaitoza nchi talanta mia za fedha, na talanta moja ya dhahabu.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
Mfalme wa Misri akamtawaza Eliakimu nduguye awe mfalme juu ya Yuda na Yerusalemu, akambadilisha jina lake kuwa Yehoyakimu. Neko akamtwaa Yehoahazi nduguye, akamchukua mpaka Misri.
Attacked by Babylon
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
Yehoyakimu alikuwa na umri wa miaka ishirini na mitano alipoanza kutawala; akatawala katika Yerusalemu miaka kumi na mmoja; akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana, Mungu wake.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
Juu yake akakwea Nebukadreza,
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
Nebukadreza akachukua baadhi ya vyombo vya nyumba ya Bwana mpaka Babeli, akavitia katika hekalu lake huko Babeli.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
Basi mambo yote ya Yehoyakimu yaliyosalia, na machukizo yake aliyoyafanya, nayo yaliyoonekana kwake, tazama, yameandikwa katika kitabu cha wafalme wa Israeli na Yuda; na Yekonia
9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Yekonia alikuwa na umri wa miaka kumi na minane alipoanza kutawala; akatawala katika Yerusalemu miezi mitatu na siku kumi; akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana.
10 And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Mwaka ulipokwisha, Nebukadreza akatuma wajumbe, akamchukua mpaka Babeli; pamoja na vyombo vya thamani vya nyumba ya Bwana; akamtawaza Sedekia nduguye awe mfalme juu ya Yuda na Yerusalemu.
11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
Sedekia alikuwa na umri wa miaka ishirini na mmoja, alipoanza kutawala; akatawala katika Yerusalemu miaka kumi na mmoja;
12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.
akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana, Mungu wake; wala hakujinyenyekesha mbele ya Yeremia nabii aliponena kwa kinywa cha Bwana.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.
Tena akamwasi mfalme Nebukadreza, aliyemwapisha kwa Mungu; lakini akajifanyia shingo ngumu, akajitia moyo nguvu asimgeukie Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli.
14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.
Na zaidi ya hayo wakuu wote wa makuhani, na watu, wakakosa mno sawasawa na machukizo yote ya mataifa; wakainajisi nyumba ya Bwana aliyoitakasa katika Yerusalemu.
15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:
Naye Bwana, Mungu wa baba zao, akatuma kwao kwa mikono ya wajumbe wake, akiondoka mapema, na kutuma; kwa sababu aliwahurumia watu wake, na makao yake;
16 but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
lakini waliwadhihaki wajumbe wa Mungu, na kuyadharau maneno yake, na kuwacheka manabii wake, hata ilipozidi ghadhabu ya Bwana juu ya watu wake, hata kusiwe na kuponya.
The Captivity
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.
Kwa hiyo akaleta juu yao mfalme wa Wakaldayo, aliyewaua vijana wao kwa upanga nyumbani mwa patakatifu pao, asiwahurumie kijana wala mwanamwali, mzee wala mkongwe; akawatia wote mkononi mwake.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
Na vyombo vyote vya nyumba ya Mungu, vikubwa kwa vidogo, na hazina za nyumba ya Bwana, na hazina za mfalme, na za wakuu wake; vyote pia akavileta Babeli.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
Wakaiteketeza nyumba ya Mungu, wakaubomoa ukuta wa Yerusalemu, wakayateketeza kwa moto majumba yake yote, wakaviharibu vyombo vyake vyote vya thamani.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
Na wale waliookoka na upanga akawachukua mpaka Babeli; wakamtumikia yeye na wanawe hata kulipoingia milki ya Uajemi;
21 to fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
ili kulitimiza neno la Bwana kwa kinywa cha Yeremia, hata nchi itakapofurahia sabato zake; kwa maana siku zote ilipokaa ukiwa ilishika sabato, kutimiza miaka sabini.
The Return
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
Ikawa katika mwaka wa kwanza wa Koreshi, mfalme wa Uajemi, ili kwamba neno la Bwana alilolisema kwa kinywa cha Yeremia lipate kutimizwa, Bwana akamwamsha roho yake Koreshi, mfalme wa Uajemi, hata akapiga mbiu katika ufalme wake wote, akaiandika pia, akisema,
23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.
Koreshi, mfalme wa Uajemi asema hivi; Bwana, Mungu wa mbinguni, amenipa falme zote za dunia; naye ameniagiza nimjengee nyumba katika Yerusalemu, ulioko Yuda. Basi kila mtu katika ninyi nyote mlio watu wake, Bwana, Mungu wake, na awe pamoja naye, na akwee.
