1 Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us:
Consider, and behold our reproach.
Ee Bwana, kumbuka yaliyotupata; Utazame na kuiona aibu yetu.
2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers,
Our houses to aliens.
Urithi wetu umegeuka kuwa mali ya wageni; Na nyumba zetu kuwa mali ya makafiri.
3 We are orphans and fatherless,
Our mothers are as widows.
Tumekuwa yatima waliofiwa na baba; Mama zetu wamekuwa kama wajane.
4 We have drunken our water for money;
Our wood is sold unto us.
Tumekunywa maji yetu kwa fedha; Kuni zetu twauziwa.
5 Our necks are under persecution:
We labour, and have no rest.
Watufuatiao wa juu ya shingo zetu; Tumechoka tusipate raha yo yote.
6 We have given the hand to the Egyptians,
And to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.
Tumewapa hao Wamisri mkono; Na Waashuri nao, ili tushibe chakula.
7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not;
And we have borne their iniquities.
Baba zetu walitenda dhambi hata hawako; Na sisi tumeyachukua maovu yao.
8 Servants have ruled over us:
There is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.
Watumwa wanatutawala; Hakuna mtu wa kutuokoa na mikono yao.
9 We gat our bread with the peril of our lives
Because of the sword of the wilderness.
Twapata chakula kwa kujihatarisha nafsi zetu; Kwa sababu ya upanga wa nyikani.
10 Our skin was black like an oven
Because of the terrible famine.
Ngozi yetu ni nyeusi kama tanuu; Kwa sababu ya hari ya njaa ituteketezayo.
11 They ravished the women in Zion,
And the maids in the cities of Judah.
Huwatia jeuri wanawake katika Sayuni; Na mabikira katika miji ya Yuda.
12 Princes are hanged up by their hand:
The faces of elders were not honoured.
Wakuu hutungikwa kwa mikono yao; Nyuso za wazee hazipewi heshima.
13 They took the young men to grind,
And the children fell under the wood.
Vijana huyachukua mawe ya kusagia; Na watoto hujikwaa chini ya kuni.
14 The elders have ceased from the gate,
The young men from their musick.
Wazee wameacha kwenda langoni; Na vijana kwenda ngomani.
15 The joy of our heart is ceased;
Our dance is turned into mourning.
Furaha ya mioyo yetu imekoma; Machezo yetu yamegeuka maombolezo.
16 The crown is fallen from our head:
Woe unto us, that we have sinned!
Taji ya kichwa chetu imeanguka; Ole wetu! Kwa kuwa tumetenda dhambi.
17 For this our heart is faint;
For these things our eyes are dim.
Kwa sababu hiyo mioyo yetu imezimia; Kwa ajili ya hayo macho yetu hayaoni vema.
18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate,
The foxes walk upon it.
Kwa ajili ya mlima Sayuni ulio ukiwa, Mbweha hutembea juu yake.
19 Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever;
Thy throne from generation to generation.
Wewe, Bwana, unadumu milele; Kiti chako cha enzi ni tangu kizazi hata kizazi.
20 Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever,
And forsake us so long time?
Mbona watusahau sikuzote; Na kutuacha muda huu mwingi?
21 Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned;
Renew our days as of old.
Ee Bwana, utugeuze kwako, nasi tutageuka; Zifanye mpya siku zetu kama siku za kale.
22 But thou hast utterly rejected us;
Thou art very wroth against us.
Isipokuwa wewe umetukataa kabisa; Nawe una hasira nyingi sana juu yetu.
