Jehoshaphat
1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
Na Yehoshafati mwanawe akatawala mahali pake, akajitia nguvu juu ya Israeli.
2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
Akaweka jeshi katika miji yote yenye maboma ya Yuda, akatia na askari walinzi katika nchi ya Yuda, na katika miji ya Efraimu, aliyoitwaa Asa babaye.
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
Naye Bwana alikuwa pamoja na Yehoshafati, kwa kuwa alikwenda katika njia za kwanza za Daudi babaye, asiyatafute mabaali;
4 but sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
lakini alimtafuta Mungu wa baba yake, akaenda katika amri zake, wala si katika matendo ya Israeli.
5 Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
Kwa hiyo Bwana akauthibitisha ufalme mkononi mwake; Yehoshafati akaletewa zawadi na Yuda wote; basi akawa na mali na heshima tele.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
Ukainuliwa moyo wake katika njia za Bwana; na zaidi ya hayo akapaondoa mahali pa juu, na maashera, katika Yuda.
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
Tena, katika mwaka wa tatu wa kutawala kwake, akawatuma wakuu wake, yaani, Ben-haili, na Obadia, na Zekaria, na Nethaneli, na Mikaya, ili kufundisha mijini mwa Yuda;
8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
na pamoja nao Walawi, yaani, Shemaya, na Nethania, na Zebadia, na Asaheli, na Shemiramothi, na Yehonathani, na Adonia, na Tobia, na Tob-adonia, Walawi; na pamoja nao Elishama na Yehoramu, makuhani.
9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
Wakafundisha katika Yuda, wenye kitabu cha torati ya Bwana; wakazunguka katika miji yote ya Yuda, wakafundisha kati ya watu.
10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
Hofu ya Bwana ikaziangukia falme za nchi zote zilizozunguka Yuda, wasipigane vita na Yehoshafati.
11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
Na baadhi ya Wafilisti walimletea Yehoshafati zawadi, na fedha ya kodi; Waarabu nao wakamletea makundi, kondoo waume saba elfu na mia saba, na mabeberu saba elfu na mia saba.
12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
Ukuu wake Yehoshafati ukazidi sana; akajenga katika Yuda ngome na miji ya hazina.
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
Naye alikuwa na kazi nyingi katika miji ya Yuda; na watu wa vita, watu mashujaa humo Yerusalemu.
14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
Na hivi ndivyo walivyohesabiwa kwa mbari za baba zao; wa Yuda, maakida wa maelfu; Adna jemadari, na pamoja naye watu mashujaa mia tatu elfu;
15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
na wa pili wake Yehohanani akida, na pamoja naye mia mbili na themanini elfu;
16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
na baada yake Amasia mwana wa Zikri, aliyejitoa kwa Bwana kwa moyo, na pamoja naye mia mbili elfu, watu mashujaa;
17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
na wa Benyamini; Eliada mtu shujaa, na pamoja naye mia mbili elfu wenye nyuta na ngao;
18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
na wa pili wake Yehozabadi, na pamoja naye mia na themanini elfu waliojiweka tayari kwa vita.
19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
Hao ndio waliomngojea mfalme, zaidi ya hao mfalme aliowaweka katika miji yenye maboma katika Yuda yote.
